Places to Eat

Wesley Cottage is a very short walk from Epworth High Street, which is blessed with a number of restaurants, takeaways and public houses.

The Khyber is, in our opinion, the best Indian restaurant in the North of England. The current owners have been in situ for 20 years. Open six days a week (closed Sunday) the Chicken Jalfrezi is our go to!
The Epworth Tap is a rustic bistro; every dish is home cooked using local ingredients, fresh meat and fish and an extensive wine list. This is a place to book in advance – “Good Food, Good Wine, Good Company” is the motto of owners Steve and Sue.
The Old School Inn is a family owned country pub and restaurant with a ‘Farm to Fork’ ethos. The pub is about half a mile away. Open at the weekend for food, this venue has a sports bar and an 80 seater restaurant. As the name suggests, it is housed in a former school – the log fire is particularly welcoming in winter and the large west facing beer garden a summer highlight.
The White Bear offers delicious home cooked food, with a daily menu catering to all dietary requirements and specialising in gluten free. We recommend the salted sirloin steak. All dishes are cooked to order.

Food Shopping
The Co-Op supermarket is 200 yards from Wesley Cottage and stocks all the essentials for your stay.
Queen Street Bakehouse is literally opposite Wesley Cottage. A female owned business, this artisan bakery serves sour-dough bread, croissants and take-away coffee. The sausage rolls have to be tried to be believed.
